Why Shakib Al Hasan Is Bangladesh's Greatest Cricketer

Career Numbers That Put Him in Rare Company

IPL, BPL and Franchise Cricket Highlights

He played multiple seasons in the IPL for Kolkata Knight Riders and Sunrisers Hyderabad, contributing with both bat and ball in title-winning and deep playoff campaigns. At home he has been a marquee pick in the Bangladesh Premier League for leading franchises.

What Makes His Playing Style Special

Shakib bowls clever left-arm spin — darting the ball in with subtle variations rather than big turn — which makes him extremely effective in limited-overs cricket. His batting is built on timing and placement rather than brute force, letting him anchor an innings or finish one depending on the situation.

Setbacks and Comebacks Along the Way

His career has not been without interruption. He served a suspension in 2019–2020 after an ICC anti-corruption breach, then returned to immediately reclaim his place as Bangladesh's premier all-rounder. Injuries and selection debates have come and gone, but each time he has answered with performances.
